In January 2017 I will study the Permaculture Design Certificate with the wonderful SAE LAO Project in Laos, South East Asia
The Permaculture Design Certificate (PDC) Course is an internationally recognized, 72-hour course resulting in a Permaculture Design Certificate. It provides an introduction to permaculture design as set forth by movement founder Bill Mollison and David Holmgren.
What will I be doing?
An intensive 12-day course covering every major topic in Permaculture: a Designers Manual. http://www.saelaoproject.com/about-us/upcoming-events/permaculture-design-certificate/ if you want more info.
Why am I doing it?!
For the last three years I have been volunteering with a local Permaculture farm - Permaclub located on the Eastern Sai Kung Peninsula. (https://www.facebook.com/permaclub/) Here we invite volunteers to learn about Permaculture and often host schools and individuals so they can learn about farming, reconnect to nature and understand that growing your own beautiful fresh, clean, organic food in Hong Kong is possible. I now need to hone my skills to bring a more tailored knowledge of sub tropical food production and planning to the project.
By gaining this training I can help to contribute to the further development of the site. Sharing this knowledge will help not only to grow our community project outreach in Hong Kong but also allow me to better connect with other Permaculture projects across the globe. There are currently only a small handful of Permaculture farms in Hong Kong, but interest is growing from schools, individuals and a number of small and medium businesses, who want to take a more responsible and safe route to their food supply chains.
As a career investment this training will help improve my knowledge of safe agricultural practices and understand further the benefits of good, clean and safe food production. My long-term goal is to create campaigns that increase environmental awareness and conduct workshops to teach others how to incorporate permaculture changes, whether that is within an organizational structure or in farming practice.
In gratitude of your support
I understand completely if donating is not for you. By simply liking or sharing this post, or even just sending a few words of encouragement, you will be helping me to help others! Sharing is key and I appreciate your effort to help me achieve this dream.
How Funding Will be Spent:
PDC course fees at SAE Laos
Airfare from Hong Kong to Laos
Visa
We the Trees Fees
Should I be fortunate enough to raise more than my goal, all additional funds raised will be gifted to the SAE Laos Project. Absolutely none of the raised funds will go to personal travel.
With huge thanks and please feel free to reach out anytime if you need more details of the project.
All my love Jax
